The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced the promotion of Obinna Ezeobi, Ph.D. as the acting general manager, Corporate Communications Division.

Platforms Africa, which exclusively gathered this, reported that Ezeobi’s promotion was announced in a letter in Wednesday, May 7, 2025, as a part of the move to build on the achievements by the board in the area of strategic communication.

His predecessor, Esueme Kikile, also a renowned strategic communication specialist, has been redeployed while Ezeobi, who bagged a Ph.D. in comminucation at the University of Port Harcourt takes full charge.

“The NCDMB has been a model in Nigeria in terms of unprecedented performance and engaging in strategic communication around its achievements. With the appointment of Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, who is a round peg in a round hole, we have a heightened expectation that the board will not only retain its spot as the number one, but also be taken to a new level,” he said.

Dr. Obinna Ezeobi is a Senior Energy Communications Professional, with extensive knowledge and experience across specialist fields of Oil and Gas, Public Relations, Advertising and Journalism. He has over two decades of practice experience, specifically in Oil and Gas, Corporate Communications and Media Sectors.

In his 15 years working at the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Obinna has conceived and delivered several successful communication campaigns that shaped NCDMB’s reputation, including the agency’s first engagements with stakeholders after establishment in May 2010, commissioning of Nigerian Content Tower by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020, inauguration of four NCDMB Governing Councils, the launch and remodeling of the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund, international and national oil and gas conferences and exhibitions and conception and management of NCDMB media platforms.

He is highly skilled in communication policy development and modeling, strategy development, media relations, crisis communication, community relations, stakeholder management, leadership communication and energy communication.

Prior to joining NCDMB at inception in 2010, Obinna was a high flying journalist, and worked for leading media organistions like PUNCH Newspapers and New Age Newspapers. In his media career, he covered beats like Energy, Economy, Marketing Communications, and Sports.

He had a knack for breaking stories and writing analytical features. He had major experiences covering OPEC Meetings at Vienna, Switzerland, Offshore Technology Conferences (OTC) at Houston, United States of America, All Africa Games Competition, African Nation’s Cup qualifying matches, Nigerian Football league matches and many other exciting events.

In April 2025, Obinna unveiled his first book titled
Nigeria’s Local Content: A Journey of Strategic Communication and Economic Transformation.” The book was endorsed by notable personalities in the Nigerian and Energy sectors and enjoyed wide reviews in the media.

Fun Fact: Obinna’s career dream was to be a journalist and till date, he gets a special trill seeing his byline on any publication.
