A humanitarian effort led by Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the member representing Ideato Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, is gaining momentum. In less than three weeks, over ₦45 million has been raised from friends and associates to support families of victims of recent violence in Ideato, according to Charles Okafor,
GDF Media Director of Honourable Ugochinyere.
The funds, which are expected to reach ₦50 million, will provide additional support to families of victims in Umualaoma, Ndi Ejezie, Ndiakunwata, and Akokwa communities. The initiative was sparked by the lack of assistance from state and local governments to the victims’ families, three weeks after 26 people were killed.
Hon. Ikenga’s efforts will primarily benefit orphans, widows, and families of victims slain during the attack. The lawmaker’s personal commitment to supporting the families and rallying his friends and associates to contribute to the intervention fund has been widely appreciated.
With just a little more needed to hit the targeted ₦50 million mark, the success of this initiative demonstrates the power of community and individual effort in times of need. The support will undoubtedly bring relief to the affected families and help them rebuild their lives.
