As part of efforts to expand the cashless payments policy the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is set to introduce a cashless payment system at its major airports starting Monday, September 29, 2025.

The new initiative, called OPERATION GO CASHLESS, will launch first at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Under this program, all payments at FAAN revenue points—including access gates, car parks, VIP and protocol lounges—will no longer accept cash.
Instead, travelers will use secure, contactless payment methods, aimed at improving speed, efficiency, and transparency of transactions.

FAAN has partnered with Paystack to implement the system and has deployed trained brand ambassadors at terminals to assist customers in transitioning to the cashless platform.
Passengers can also obtain and activate a FAAN Go Cashless Card at the airports and fund it online via the official portal.

The authority said the move aligns Nigerian airports with global digital payment trends and aims to enhance revenue assurance and customer experience. FAAN plans to expand the cashless payments policy to other airports nationwide over time.
