Chief Nnamdi Nwabufo (Eze Udene Awkuzu III), the Chairman of Awkuzu Progressive Union (APU) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called for unity, peace, and love among members following a court ruling in favor of the APU. The court’s decision, according to him has brought relief to the APU, which has been embroiled in internal conflicts.

It would be recalled that the union and some of its members had over the time been in court over leadership tussle.

In a telephone interview with our man, shortly after the judgement over the week, the chairman described the court victory as a “development” that has resolved obvious issues. He emphasized that the APU is open to all members and encouraged those who have been absent to return, saying: “We want everybody to come back so that all of us shall remain one.”

Attributing the internal conflicts to a few individuals who are not qualified to lead, he said: “If you’re not qualified, that’s where the issue arose,” just as he assured members that the APU leadership is committed to inclusivity and will welcome those who have been involved in the disputes.

Regarding the court case, the chairman revealed that the APU has been vindicated, emphasizing that the court’s decision is a victory for the APU and a testament to the group’s commitment to peace and unity.

He urged members to remain calm and focus on rebuilding the organization, saying: “We are for peace, and the court has ruled in our favor.” He called on leaders to lead with integrity and not use their positions to punish opponents.

The APU Chairman’s call for unity and peace has been welcomed by members, who have vowed to put the past behind them and work towards a brighter future for the organization.

Recalled that in a press release made available to the public recently, a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Kubwa, Abuja, has dismissed a suit filed by Mr. Samuel Onyeaka and others against the Union in Abuja branch.

Justice Mrs. Akobi ruled in favor of APU Abuja, rejecting the plaintiffs’ prayers for an injunction to, restrain APU members and executives from using the Awkuzu Saburi Hall, and stop Chief Nnamdi Nwabufo from parading himself as the authentic APU Chairman.

The court’s decision has been hailed by APU Abuja, with Hon. Emma Tagbo, Information Coordinator, APU Abuja, describing the verdict as a “goal” for the union.
