The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at enhancing national security, identity management, and service delivery to Nigerians during a courtesy visit on Thursday.

The visit, led by CG Kemi Nana Nandap, the Comptroller General of NIS, was marked by a meeting with the Director General and CEO of NIMC, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, alongside her management team.

According to a statement signed by Ayodele Babalola, Technical Advisor, Media Communications to the DG/CEO NIMC, the occasion underscored the importance of partnership between the two key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Interior in fostering a secure and efficient identity ecosystem.

In her remarks, CG Nandap emphasized the vital role of continuous cooperation in strengthening border security and supporting national development through robust identity verification systems.

She highlighted that the synergy between NIS and NIMC remains a cornerstone in ensuring Nigeria’s borders are well-managed and that national security is upheld.

Responding, Engr. (Dr.) Coker-Odusote expressed her agency’s eagerness to expand its collaboration with NIS.

She stressed the importance of unified efforts to enhance data integrity, streamline operational procedures, and reinforce Nigeria’s border security infrastructure through innovative identity solutions.

Both agencies reiterated their shared dedication to working more closely in designing policies and initiatives that bolster security, operational efficiency, and innovation within Nigeria’s identity and border management systems.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts by Nigeria’s security agencies to foster stronger inter-agency cooperation in critical areas affecting national safety and development.
