President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a crucial step towards completing his cabinet by submitting a list of additional 19 ministerial nominees to the Senate bringing the total number to 48 in which 45 have been cleared, awaiting three others for security clearance.

Nigeria has been poised to have its largest federal cabinet since 1999. The main objective of this move is to ensure representation in every state, creating inclusivity in the government and adhering to the Federal Character Commission establishment act.

One of the noteworthy aspects of the selection is the president’s focus on selecting technocrats over politicians. President Tinubu has shown his commitment to fostering effective governance and delivering his promises to Nigerians by prioritizing individuals with strong backgrounds in their respective fields.

In a nation as diverse as Nigeria, having a representative government is important and this is evident in the President’s selection of the ministerial slots, an approach that demonstrates his dedication to providing fair and equitable representation for all citizens. This strategic move will promote national unity and cohesion, granting each state a voice and active participation in shaping the nation’s future. It also sets the stage for collaborative governance and the pursuit of common goals.

The screening has ended, and as we all know, the Senate is responsible for properly reviewing nominees’ qualifications, expertise, and commitment to serve the nation’s interests. I am confident that they will ensure the selection of the most qualified and dedicated individuals who will be appointed to key ministerial positions.

President Tinubu has made an admirable decision by compiling this list, and it sets the country for growth and prosperity. We are anxiously waiting for the outcomes of the confirmation process, I stand on the belief that the president’s approach will pave the way for a brighter and more promising future.

I urge the nominees to work in line with the renewed hope mandate and manifesto. All the best!
