Kano Varsity Creates Robot For Domestic Choirs

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, near Kano, said its Department of Computer Science has developed robots for house choirs.

Prof. Musa Yakasai, the Vice Chancellor of the state owned University told Reporters the automated machine would be deployed for cleaning, sweeping and knitting within the school.

Yakasai revealed that the institution had improved on the Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology of the University, adding that the feat was designed to pave ways for students to fully access technology in the era of Global IT transformation.

The Vice Chancellor the automated machine has
been tested and working in line with original design.

He said “as time goes on, we will create as many as possible this kind of machine that will help reduce the workload of the Institution”.

Commenting on the University’s Library, the Vice Chancellor said that the newly-renovated Library had the capacity of over five hundred Students and was fully connected with Internet and other IT materials.

Yakasai noted that in spite the fact that they had created fully functional E-Library, he added that the institution still encouraged students to continue with the normal Library system for improved reading culture.

“We have created Technical Service Department, which is unusual as a department responsible for the general procession of library material’s with Information Resources/Automatic Development Unit, Cataloguing and classification unit, than the E-Library it’s self,” he said.

In the same Library, he said,the University created Serial Department, adding that it was responsible for the general procession and discharging of serial materials that includes Newspapers, Journals and Reports”.
