The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, announced on Monday that preparations are underway for the appointment of nine Permanent Secretaries to head the corresponding secretariats of the FCT Administration.

During a press interaction in Abuja after inspecting road projects, Wike shared details about this development, citing adherence to the FCT Civil Service Commission Act, 2018, approved by President Bola Tinubu in line with his “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Wike emphasized that the most senior directors within the FCTA would be appointed as permanent secretaries for various secretariats, including Agriculture and Rural Development, Transportation, Economic Planning, Revenue Generation, Public Private Partnership, Education, Social Development, Legal Services, Area Council, Health and Environment, and Women Affairs Secretariats.

He underscored the significance of President Tinubu’s commitment to implementing the 2018 Act, resulting in the establishment of the FCT’s Civil Service Commission.

This move, according to Wike, aligns with the administration’s goal of fostering renewed hope and efficiency.

Addressing the senior directors, Wike stressed the need for dedication to duty and swift action in handling official matters.

He expressed concern over file delays and warned against any actions that could impede the administration’s progress.

“We have told them that no file will stay in a director’s office for more than three to four days, so that the work can move on, and they have agreed to that,” Wike asserted.

The minister also disclosed his approval of the promotion of approximately 8,000 workers, urging the beneficiaries to reciprocate by demonstrating heightened commitment and diligence in their respective roles.

This move aligns with the government’s broader strategy to enhance efficiency and service delivery within the FCT Administration.
