ANA Abuja Announces First Female Northern Author as November Guest

The Association of Nigerian Authors, Abuja Chapter,has named Hajia Hafsat Abdulwaheed as its guest author for the month of November.

The announcement is contained in a statement which reads: “We are delighted to announce Hajia Hafsat Abdulwaheed as our esteemed guest author for the month of November. Hajia Hafsat Abdulwaheed is an exceptional Nigerian writer, poet, and women’s rights activist, who has made remarkable contributions to literature and social change in her career.

“Hajia Hafsat holds a significant position in the literary world as the first female Hausa writer from Northern Nigeria to have penned a published novel. Through her writing, she has given voice to the often-underrepresented experiences and aspirations of Hausa women, shedding light on the diverse cultural heritage of Northern Nigeria. Her works have captivated readers across the nation and beyond, as she skillfully weaves storytelling with themes of gender equality, identity, and empowerment.

“In addition to her literary accomplishments, Hajia Hafsat Abdulwaheed has also been actively involved in advocacy for women’s rights. Her determination and passion led her to venture into the political sphere, as she courageously contested in the governorship election in the Northern Nigerian State of Zamfara during the 2000s. Through her political engagement and writings, she has played a vital role in promoting women’s rights and challenging societal norms.
