Ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Prince Nickolas Ukachukwu alias Ikukuoma has vowed to bring collapsed industries in the State back to life and by so doing restore the commercial city of Onitsha as the largest Market in the West African subregion.

Prince Ukachukwu who spoke at a ceremony organized to endorse his candidacy for governor by his Alma Mater, the Old Boys of Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) boldly and comprehensively expressed his preparedness to give Anambra a grandiose leadership if elected also vowed to restore night life in Onitsha with water tight security to ensure that business is enhanced to thrive 24 hours in the largest commercial city East of the Niger as obtainable in other cities.

The APC governorship hopeful lamented that insecurity and lack of steady power supply among other negative factors millitating against ease of doing business have all combined together made it difficult for industries to thrive and survive noting that he is a victim of the difficult situation as his own NICCUS Industry at Nkpor collapsed.

According to him “Onitsha is no longer what it used to be as the largest market in West Africa where people from Northern Nigeria and neighboring countries like Niger, Cameron, Chad and even Mali use to come and buy goods because all the industries that made Onitsha a large with their products have collapsed due to lack of ease of doing business particularly lack of power supply. Onitsha is like a city living in darkness and no business, no industry can survive in darkness”

He vowed that if elected as governor he will restore NICCUS and other industries across Anambra State by ensuring that everything needed to ensure ease of doing business are putting in place including, good road network, tight security and steady power supply adding that if elected as governor he will appoint a trader as commissioner for Industry, trade and commerce to ensure that someone who know how to do business is the one managing the business sector in the State.

Echoing on his life as a student of DMGS, the APC candidate attributed his success in life so far to the positive impact of the school in his life adding that the school shaped and moulded him to become what he is today as a successful businessman and who have acquired what it takes to lead Anambra State and that’s why he is in the race for the government house in Agu Awka as the candidate of APC for the governorship election in November 8.

Earlier in his message of endorsement, the President General of the DMGS Old Boys Association (DOBA) Mr Sunny Nwachukwu acknowledged the fact that the school has continued to produce great men in various fields of human endeavor of which Prince Ukachukwu is one of such men adding that it is the earnest wish of the Old Boys to produce the governor of Anambra State hence their declaration of total support to the APC candidate for the forthcoming Governorship election in Anambra State Prince Ukachukwu who is one of us.

Describing Ukachuwu as a true servant of the people, a great philanthropist who is among those moving DOBA forward, Nwachukwu said “today we have gathered here to celebrate one of us Prince Nickolas Ukachukwu alias Ikukuoma who is making us proud as a good ambassador of our Alma Mater. We must appreciate God for His goodness, mercy and blessings upon him. We declare that DOBA is solidly behind your noble pursuit to become the next governor of Anambra State by coasting home to victory in the forthcoming Governorship election in State. It is our earnest pray God that will see you through.

Also speaking at the ceremony witnessed by the State chairman of APC Hon Basil Ejidike and other top APC faithful, the principal of DMGS Venerable Chigozie Anieto commended DOBA for their concern and commitment to be good ambassadors of the school assuring that the school will continue to maintain quality standard of education where boys are prepared to live a responsible life, achieve success and become great in their chosen field of endeavor.
