Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka, Abuja

Chief Gabriel Obiegbu, an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stakeholder in Anambra North and founder of the Okptaozuora Philanthropic Foundation, has declared that APGA remains the party to beat in Anambra State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in a a telephone interview Tuesday on the outcome of the party’s recent primaries, Obiegbu urged aspirants who lost to join hands with those who emerged, saying politics should not be seen as a do-or-die affair. “One person must emerge. Those who lost are still winners in totality,” he said.

He emphasized that unity after the primaries is crucial for the party to achieve its goals, noting that the focus should be on supporting the chosen candidates to move APGA forward.

On APGA’s prospects in the 2027 National Assembly and State Assembly elections, he predicted a landslide victory for the party across the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly seats in Anambra.

He argued that APGA’s acceptance in the state is unmatched, stating that “APGA is our party, and it remains our party by the special grace of God. No party is greater than Anambra in Anambra.”

Reflecting on the last election, Obiebu said APGA did not lose in totality, but alleged that manipulation played a role in some areas. He cited the case of Tony Moyer as an example, adding that the party has since learnt from those experiences.

“This time, we have blocked the loopholes. Manipulation will not come in again. We are on the ground everywhere in Anambra,” he said, stressing that the party is working to ensure a free and fair process in 2027.

On APGA’s performance in government, Obiebu pointed to the achievements of the governor and party lawmakers. He noted that many of the current senators and House members are first-timers who have delivered projects such as roads, transformers, and solar lights despite limited leverage.

He expressed confidence that returning lawmakers would do better in a second term. “By the time they go for a second time, which we are planning by His grace, they will do better than expected,” he said.

Introducing himself at the end of the interview, Obiebu said: “My name is Chief Gabriel Obiegbu, CEO of Okptaozuora Philanthropic Foundation in Anambra North. I am a strong stakeholder in Oyi Local Government.” He reaffirmed that APGA is working seriously toward winning all positions in 2027.
