Brittania -U Begins Investigations Into FPSO Facility Fire Incident, Assures Inferno Under Control

Brittania-U Nigeria Limited, an indigenous integrated energy company on Monday declared that the fire incident which occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at its Floating Production Storage and Offloading Facility (FPSO) situated at the former OML 90 field, now PML 6, offshore Ogulagha Kingdom offshore Warri, is now under control.

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Uju Ifejika (OFR), the company stated that a thorough investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire incident and will share further updates with the public as soon as possible.

“Brittania -U wishes to update the general public that the fire incident which occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at its Floating Production Storage and Offloading Facility (FPSO) situated at the former OML 90 field, now PML 6, offshore Ogulagha Kingdom offshore Warri, is now under control.

“The Company has commenced a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire incident and will share further updates with the public as soon as possible.

“Brittania -U Management wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Shell, the Nigerian Navy, NUPRC, NNPCL, NIMASA, and all well-meaning Nigerians who showed support during fire outbreak” reads the statement.

Recall that the the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, (NIMASA) has disclosed recently reported a fire incident on a drilling vessel platform, Brittania U, at Ajakpa Field, (OML 90), 10.77 nautical miles South of Forcadoes Terminal in Delta State, Nigeria,

According to NIMASA, all 19 crew members onboard the ill-fated Britania U drilling platform were successfully rescued from the Vessel.

Brittania-U is an indigenous integrated company that delivers energy services through exploration & production, drilling & oil services and subsurface engineering & consultancy.
