By Abba Onyekachukwu, Abuja

A renowned constitutional lawyer, Prince Orji Nwafor-Orizu, has condemned Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s move against native doctors, describing it as intimidation and a violation of their rights ¹. Orizu argued that Soludo’s approach is misguided and unlawful, emphasizing that the governor should not punish native doctors without following the due process of the law.

Orizu also highlighted that native doctors have the right to practice their religion, just like other religious bodies. He noted that many native doctors provide essential services, treating people for various ailments, and questioned what possible connection they could have with aiding armed robbers.

The lawyer’s criticism comes after Soludo launched a campaign against native doctors involved in criminal activities, particularly those providing charms for kidnappers and armed robbers ². However, Orizu’s stance emphasizes the need for caution and adherence to the rule of law in addressing these issues.
