Death Of 40 Year Old Edo Lady: Arraignment Of Six Suspected Suicide Aiders At Federal High Court Stalled

The arraignment of six persons who allegedly aided the suicide of Mrs Lilian Omokhuale, the daughter of the Chief Executive Officer of Uyi Technical Ltd was on Tuesday Stalled at the Federal High Court in Benin City following the inability of the court to sit due to some administrative reasons.

Journalists drawn from the various media organisations have besieged the court as early as 8.30 am but were later told that the court will not sit on the case which had earlier been adjourned to Tuesday 12, March , 2024 for hearing.

The six persons araigned are Jessica Iguodala Oghomwen, Akpes Omorodion, Chukwudi Akpotowho, Joy Noren, Vincent Uhunmwangho and Blessing Jatto.

The 40-year old Lilian Omokhuale took her life on October 7, 2022 in the GRA axis of Benin City, Edo State.

The Situation prompted the police to commence investigation into the incident.

The investigation revealed that the six accused persons were alleged to have aided her suicide and they were consequently held by the police.

All the suspects are facing prosecution in the Federal High Court, sitting in Benin City and presided over by Hon. Justice S. M. Shuaibu.

The case with suit No. FHC/B/5C/2024 is between Inspector General of Police and the six persons who were also accused of money laundering, concealment of source of funds and operating specialized banking without valid licence.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, the Criminal Code Act 2004 and the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act of 2020.
