Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has expressed strong disapproval of recent comments made by the state’s First Lady, Betsy Obaseki.

Mrs. Obaseki, during a campaign event for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ubiaja, Esan South-East Local Government Area, emphasized that Asue Ighodalo, the PDP’s governorship candidate, is the only contender with a spouse.

She introduced Ighodalo’s wife, Ifeyinwa, to the audience, underscoring the significance of having a woman in the Government House.

Mrs. Obaseki stated, “Let’s choose the best candidate in the upcoming election, and I’m pleased to introduce the wife of our party’s candidate, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo. It’s noteworthy that among all the candidates, only our candidate has a wife. Edo women should recognize that better opportunities come with a woman in the Government House.”

In response, Oshiomhole, in an interview with TVC, dismissed the First Lady’s remarks, pointing out that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, is a dedicated father who has invested heavily in his children’s education.

Oshiomhole highlighted that Okpebholo’s children, one of whom is a lawyer and another a medical doctor, actively participated in recent campaigns alongside their mother.
