An official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), identified simply as Sylvanus has been found dead in Lagos State.

Sylvanus’s lifeless body was found on the street of Lagos. He was clad in traditional attire as seen in a video that went viral on social media.

Onlookers said his ID card signified he was working with the anti-corruption agency.

“Where e dey work, nah EFCC. His ID card dey there,” voices, including a policeman, said in the video.

The circumstances surrounding Sylvanus’ death are still unclear. However, according to a report by SaharaReporters.

The EFCC however confirmed he was an employee of the agency as confirmed in a terse message on Monday afternoon by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale.

“The death is being investigated,” he stated.

Sylvanus’s death came less than two weeks after the death of another EFCC officer, Aminu Sahabi Salisu, who was shot by a suspected fraudster in Awka, Anambra State capital.

The suspect was identified as Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, an alleged internet fraudster.

The suspect attacked EFCC operatives during an operation in Awka and shot Salisu.

Nnamdi was arrested while repeatedly hiding in the ceiling of his neighbour’s room after the crime.

Salisu was later flown to Sokoto State for burial.

The EFCC later named the administrative block of its Academy in Karu, Abuja after Salisu.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede disclosed in Abuja on Saturday, January 25, 2025, that the gesture was made to immortalize the slain officer.
