Etsu of Zhipe, Alhaji Alhassan Mohammed, has appealed to the Karu Local Government and Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for the reconstruction of the dilapidated primary school in his community.

Mohammed made the appeal on Tuesday during donation of some items to the school by the Evergreen G6 Club, an NGO, in Abuja.

He explained that the school was in a pitiable condition, hence the need urgent intervention to enable students learn in a conducive environment.

“I’m appealing to Karu Local Government leadership and UBEC to help us rebuild the community primary school which is in a deplorable condition.

“Many organisations have promised to come to our aid but they didn’t, and due to that reason we are begging the government to rebuild the primary school.

“We voted for the local government chairman and we are entitled to get dividends of democracy in reciprocation,” he said.

Earlier, the President of Evergreen G6 Club, Adesola Adewola, who described the situation of the primary school as an eyesore, said that good infrastructure was essential for effective learning.

“The school is dilapidated; the roof of some parts is half already. This led us to provide these items to help the school, but we can provide all.

“Our heart will still come back, but we are appealing to the local government authority to come to the aid of this community in order to make the learning process to be conducive for the poor,” she said.

Adamu Usman, Head Teacher of the school while lamenting on the challenges facing the school, said the school lacked chairs, infrastructural facilities and learning materials.

According to him, due to lack of roof, rain and sun usually disrupt learning, and this has often prevented learners from coming to the school.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the relief material donated to the school were chairs and desks to the school. (NAN)
