Group condemns killings in plateau, seeks end to bloody attacks

Group known as Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Grassroots Movement of Nigeria has joined other well meaning Nigerians to condemn the terrorist attack on residents of two Local Government Areas in Plateau State on Christmas eve describing the killing as most unfortunate and unacceptable.

Recall that gunmen launched the attacks on residents of the two LGAs, including Mangu, at about 10 pm on Sunday. Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, said the death toll from the incident has risen to 115. Mutfwang said this during an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.

Condemning the killing in a statement issued by its Convener and National leader Alhaji Muritala Mohammed alias ten ten, the OUK Movement sought for measures to bring attacks and killings by gunmen to an end in Plateau calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explore all avenues including dialogue to address the ugly issue of killing in Plateau.

The Statement reads in part “We the entire members of the OUK Grassroots Movement of Nigeria wish to use this medium to condemn in all entirety the killing of innocent souls in Plateau on Christmas Eve. We are also joint other well meaning Nigerians to mourn the exit of these innocent and praying that their souls will Rest in Peace.

“In the same vein we are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explore all available measures including dialogue and even amnesty together with the relevant stakeholders such as traditional rulers, religious leaders and service chiefs to bring the killing in Plateau to an end.
