Gunmen Kill Two Ekiti Monarchs After Security Meeting

There was tension in Ekiti on Monday evening as news filtered in that a gang of dare devil kidnappers laid siege to some communities in shooting three traditional rulers and abducting dozens of school children. 

The  kidnappers  reportedly attacked three traditional rulers in Ikole Local government  areas of Ekiti State, killing two and one escaped with gunshots wounds. 

The unfortunate incident occurred at Irele ,Oke Ako road . One of the monarchs ,Kabiyesi alara escaped but  the Olumojo and  Elesun were not lucky as they reportedly died on the spot..

At another incident, some  school children were  kidnapped in Emure Local Government area of the Ekiti State. 

It was learnt the pupils of the  Apostolic Faith Nursery/Primary School. The school bus was  heading to Eporo Ekiti when the incident happened.

Report from the locals said  the Alara of Ara in Ikole Local Government escaped when the armed men accosted them and attempted to forcefully take them away.

The incidence took place on Monday evening between Oke-Ako and Ipao Ekiti, located in Ajoni Local Governmenr area.

The traditional rulers were coming from a meeting when the incident happened.

“They were travelling together. The armed herdsmen stopped them and rained bullets on them. They took their personal belongings and dragged their bodies into the bush” one eye witness told Irohinoodua. 

He said the Alara of Ara Ekiti escaped. A source said they were coming from a meeting where security issues were discussed

“They fired  bullets at the Alara but he was lucky. He escaped from the scene and ran away” the source said.

Meanwhile ,a team of  Amotekun operatives have been mobilised into the troubled  area.
