The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has urged Nigerians to embraces the Police-VGS Quick Emergency Reporting and Response System (QERRS).
The IGP stated this on Tuesday during the unveiling of Police-VGS QERRS, a smart policing initiative aimed at revolutionizing police response to emergency and ensuring swift and efficient action in critical.
Egbetokun who was joined at the occasion by dignitaries at Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja said, the App is a ground-breaking initiative that represents a pivotal milestone in our commitment to providing top-notch security services and smart policing to all residents across Nigeria.
According to him, “This state-of-the-art platform, utilizing Android and iOS applications, will revolutionize the way we respond to emergency situations, ensuring swift and efficient action in critical moments.
“This innovative system reflects our commitment to enhancing public safety, bolstering security, and fostering a safer environment for every Nigerian citizen. The Police-VGS Application marks a significant step forward in our efforts to move away from analog policing and stay in tune with current happenings in the global system.”
The IGP also explained that, the innovation is not just about taking advantage of technology; it represents the epitome of our commitment to the security and safety of Nigeria members of the public.
“Today, I urge everyone resident in Nigeria to embrace this innovation wholeheartedly. The adoption of the Police-VGS in our policing strategies and its acceptance by members of the public is expected to impact significantly on our services as it will enable us to render timely assistance when it matters most.
“With the swipe of a button on your phone, as will be demonstrated, you can now send emergency notifications directly to our dedicated team of police operatives. Our response will be swift, live, and coordinated to ensure that we reach you in the shortest possible time. Police-VGS is not just an app; it is a lifeline that can make all the difference in saving lives, combatting the menace of crime, and protecting our communities.
“It is pertinent to reiterate that our mandate to protect the lives and property of every Nigerian, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and police principles, can only be achieved through all-inclusiveness and diversification of ideas including the use of cutting-edge technology to effectively tackle various dimensions of crimes and criminality.”
Egbetokun however expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the realization of Police-VGS starting from the talented developers and engineers to Police officers who were at the forefront in the final implementation of the system.

The Police-VGS QERRS is an application that has been modeled to ensure prompt response and referral in the event of emergencies such as accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies, criminal incident reporting, intelligence sharing.
With the swipe of a button on a phone emergency notifications will be sent directly to a dedicated team of police operatives who will ensure a swift, live, and coordinated response to reach in the shortest possible time. The Police-VGS app is a lifeline that can make all the difference in saving lives, combatting the menace of crime, and securing our communities.
The Ag. Inspector-General of Police, equally noted that the Police-VGS, an additional option to the already launched C4i-NPF Rescue Me App, represents the epitome of the Nigeria Police commitment to the security and safety of members of the public.
He further urged every resident of Nigeria to embrace the innovation wholeheartedly stressing that its adoption will impact policing services significantly.
