The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Kelechi Ndukwe, a Nigerian-American military officer, on his recent promotion to the rank of Navy Captain in the United States Navy.

Captain Ndukwe, who has made history as the first Nigerian-American to command a U.S. warship, hails from Item in Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State, same constituency represented by Deputy Speaker Kalu in the National Assembly.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kalu praised Ndukwe for his remarkable resilience, consistency, and dedication to duty, which have not only advanced his career but also brought pride to his hometown, Abia State, and Nigeria at large.

“Captain Ndukwe’s achievements are a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence. He has made Item, Abia State, and indeed Nigeria proud,” Kalu said. “His promotion is well-deserved, and I wish him continued success as he reaches new heights in his distinguished military career.”

Captain Ndukwe’s promotion marks another milestone in a career that has been both groundbreaking and inspiring, serving as a beacon of hope and motivation for aspiring military officers of Nigerian descent worldwide.
