A 100-level student of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, has been arrested in Delta State after allegedly drugging and murdering his girlfriend, identified as Damilola, and dismembering her body for use in money rituals.

Following the murder, the suspect, whose name remains undisclosed, reportedly demanded a ransom of N10 million from Damilola’s grieving father, in a case that has left the public and authorities in shock.

Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, revealed the details on social media, describing the incident as a “tragic display of greed.”

Edafe explained that the suspect allegedly laced Damilola’s drink with drugs before killing her.

He then sent her dismembered body parts to a native doctor in Ibadan, Oyo State, who was expected to create charms from them in the form of soap, believed to attract wealth.

In a disturbing twist, the suspect contacted Damilola’s father demanding a ransom, despite allegedly ending her life.

“The audacity is shocking,” Edafe stated, adding that criminals driven by greed often act irrationally, which can make them easier to apprehend.

The suspect is now in police custody as investigations continue.

Delta State law enforcement has assured the public of its commitment to bringing all parties involved to justice and has issued fresh warnings against ritual practices and dangerous shortcuts to wealth.
