Naira/Fuel Scarcity: Police Engage CBN, IPMAN, Traders, Artisans, Others, Calls For Peace In Oyo

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP. Adebowale Williams in his efforts to ensure peaceful electioneering process in the state on Friday urged residents to maintain peace.

Adebowale in his words also noted that there is need for all and sundry to maintain peace in order to assist the policemen to improve the duties of protection of lives and properties of the state.

The CP made this statement during the security summit with other stakeholders at the Command Headquaters Eleyele, Ibadan the Capital City of Oyo state.

In his words, CP. Adebowale said, “the recent events in the country call for an extension of the cooperation and understanding being enjoyed in Oyo State.”

He added that some of individuals hiding under the umbrella of peaceful protest in a bid to execute plans have been arrested and confessed to smuggling arms into the State.

“Let us all have a clear understanding that we are all Stakeholders in Oyo State. We must say no to agents of disintegration in our midst and continue maintaining our renowned reputation of a State with a relatively peaceful ambience.

“Without peace in our environment there can be no elections, the campaign will not go on, you can see some of them has suspended campaigns so we need to have an environment conducive for people to exercise their franchise and continue to maintain peace in Oyo state.”

The Oyo State Controller of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Foluke Oluduro, appealed to residents of Oyo state that effort is ongoing to ensure that the new naira notes is well circulated in the state.

The event was attended by the security operatives, Babaloja General of Oyo state, Alhaji Yekini Abass, representative of POS operators in the state, artisans, market women, among others.
