…Says Dangote Refinery Received Over 84 Million Barrels Of Crude Oil Since Inception

By Chidi Ugwu

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited) has issued a statement to clarify recent reports circulating on social media regarding the alleged unilateral termination of the crude oil sales agreement in Naira between NNPC and Dangote Refinery.

Oluseye Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, in a statement, said the contract for the sale of crude oil in Naira was a six-month agreement, subject to availability, and is set to expire at the end of March 2025, adding that discussions are currently underway to establish a new contract.

“Since October 2024, NNPC has made over 48 million barrels of crude oil available to Dangote Refinery under this arrangement. In total, NNPC has supplied over 84 million barrels of crude oil to the refinery since its commencement of operations in 2023” reads part of the statement.

NNPC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supplying crude oil for local refining based on mutually agreed terms and conditions. The company seeks to promote transparency and clarity in its business dealings.

The clarification comes amidst recent speculation surrounding the contract, and NNPC Limited’s statement aims to provide accurate information to stakeholders and the general public.
