By Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka, Abuja
The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has partnered with the African Travel Commission (ATC) to drive tourism growth across Nigeria. A recent meeting at the NTDA Headquarters in Abuja marked a significant step towards a unified approach to promoting sustainable tourism and cultural exchange.
Led by ATC Executive Director Dr. Lucky George, the delegation met with NTDA’s Director Overseeing the Office of Director-General, Mr. Richard Ovie Esewhaye. They discussed leveraging collective strengths to attract a broader international audience and promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
Mr. Esewhaye acknowledged that past administrations had paid lip service to tourism development, but expressed commitment to practical growth under the current administration. The partnership aims to create jobs, enhance infrastructure, and transform Nigeria and Africa’s tourism landscape.
The NTDA and ATC plan to develop joint campaigns highlighting Nigeria’s and Africa’s cultural heritage and travel experiences. The travel press will play a key role in promoting these initiatives, pooling resources and expertise to attract international attention.
