Olubadan’s praise of Tinubu’s answer to Oyo abduction saga, swift prosecution of suspects, reflects renewed support for war against terrorism -TMSG

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has described recent praise by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, of President Bola Tinubu’s effective answer to the Oyo abduction saga and the swift prosecution of the suspects as reflective of the administration’s new focus rooted in improved actionable intelligence and greater inter-agency synergy.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, the group said that President Tinubu’s rare decisive leadership played out in the successful rescue saga of the kidnapped school children and their teachers.

It said: “We note that Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who led Oyo State traditional rulers on a courtesy and thank you visit to the President, commended him for refusing to heed the terrorists’ demand for the release of their leaders in detention in exchange for the school children and their teachers.

“We specifically acknowledge the Olubadan’s assertion on how inter-agency coordination is becoming the turning point in the war against terrorism in Nigeria on the President’s watch.

“For us, Oba Ladoja’s remarks are indicative of the overwhelming opinions of many Nigerians irrespective of region or religion on the feat, with a clamour for its replication across the country.

“For once, and in a very long time, many Nigerians voiced their minds on media platforms, expressing relief and confidence that insecurity is being aggressively tamed; the nation is on its way to shout Uhuru.”

The group also noted that it was difficult for close watchers, even critics, to deny the swiftness and diligence with which terrorists, including Ansaru commanders, were being arraigned for prosecution.

“In fact, there have been several such arraignments where the suspects pleaded guilty and appropriate judgements instantly pronounced on them at the courts at a speed that is not only rapid but downright unprecedented to dispense justice to the victims.

“On this score, we invite the world to see how the Bola Tinubu administration is fighting crime and criminality as leader of the Nigerian nation where the rule of law is supreme and sacrosanct,” TMSG said.

The group stressed the need for the administration to sustain its highly improved and focused counterterrorism strategy following the positive narrative locally and internationally.

“It will be recalled that only recently came a message of commendation from US President Donald Trump, acknowledging what he described as President Tinubu’s effective and
successful efforts at combating terrorism and making Nigeria more secure and safer, and at a time the president’s pursuit of peace and security in Nigeria and the West African subregion was at a record high.

“It also bears restating that Trump’s letter was a significant validation of the Tinubu administration’s good record of frontally tackling insecurity since taking office in May 2023,” it added.
