*Says Rojenny Games & Tourist Village not established for selfish interest
*Says Rojenny is not for sale

By Toby Chuks

Ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games scheduled to kick off in July, the proprietor Rojenny Games & Tourist Village located at Oba in Anambra State, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogilisi Igbo) has offered the Rojenny Stadium free for Nigeria to use and prepare athletes for Paris Games.

Making the offer in a press conference he addressed yesterday, Chief Ezeonwuka who was represented by his SA on Public Affairs, Chief Dozie Nweke (Udezuruigbo) said that the offer is part of his contribution for the development of sport in Nigeria

Nweke explained that the offer giving to Nigeria to come and use Rojenny to prepare athletes is to inspire them do well in Paris assuring that coming to Rojenny stadium to prepare for the Games will accord the Nigerian contingent the desired luck to thrive and win medals in Paris as the case of 1993 when the Golden Eaglet conquered the world in Japan after using Rojenny stadium to prepare for the 1993 U-17 World Cup in Japan with Nwankwo kanu, Wilson Oruma and Peter Anosike among others in the world conquering 93 Eaglet squad.

Chief Nweke revealed that Rojenny Games & Tourist Village also know as Rojenny Holiday Village was not established for selfish interest but as a citadel to develop various games in sport and discover talents good enough to make Nigeria proud in the global world and also develop tourism that will attract the global world to Anambra State. According to Udezuruigbo, Chief Ezeonwuka would have committed suicide long time ago if he had established Rojenny for selfish interest to make money because sport and tourism are yet to develop into business as obtained in the civilised countries.

Nweke lamented that both Anambra State and Nigeria at large are yet to take full advantage of Rojenny to develop sport and tourism upon the fact that the facilities are available. He echoed that Rojenny Stadium has hosted top African football clubs from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria when the defunct Udoji United football club used Rojenny as a home ground adding that Rojenny also mustered all the facilities including a world class tartan track to play the role as the venue for 2020 Police Games hosted in Anambra State.

Reacting to the rumour making round in some quarters that Rojenny Games & Tourist Village has been put forward for sale, Nweke dismissed such rumour as a hand work of fake news mongers adding that Rojenny is not for sale and will never be for sale. He pointed out that the management of Rojenny has issued a stern warning to those spreading the fake news adding the anybody who goes on to spread the fake news henceforth will face the full wrath of law.
