Police at Neni in Anaocha local council of Anambra State has intercepted an armed robbery gang that snatched a Tricycle from the owner in Agu-Awka on Saturday night, Anambra State capital on Saturday night.
According to a press statement signed by the spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, their gang was smashed following information received from the Police in Awka that the gang was fleeing towards Anaocha local council.
So, the Police who were on patrol with the local vigilante laid an ambush for the robbers and got them apprehended.
In their possession was one Baretta Pistol and one locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, twelve rounds of live, and one expended ammunition which were recovered from the three-man gang including the Tricycle.
Police gave names of the suspects as Ebuka Madu, a male aged 22years of Umunze in Orumba South local council, Chinedu Godwin aged 23years from Enugu State, and Udegbunam Chikezie also male, 18years of Neni.
The statement said the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye has assured members of the Public and Ndi Anambra that the confidence reposed in the Command for the maintenance of law and order and pursuit of justice shall not be taken for granted.
He has also directed that the suspects be arraigned in court after a diligent investigation.
Also, Men of Anambra State Police Command attached to Abagana Division, on Saturday rescued an aged woman being cruelly treated by another woman at Umudunu village, Abagana.
The suspect Ukamaka Udeugbo female aged 50 years turned out to be her biological daughter.
The suspect who who also appeared in a viral video flogged the naked aged mother repeatedly and threw buckets of water on her while lying on the floor.
Ukamaka has been arrested and detained for prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police Adeoye has directed the transfer of the case to State CID in the public interest and has authorized that the aged woman be handed to Commissioner for Women Affairs for adequate care by the State Government.
Meanwhile the suspect is to be arraigned in court at the end of the investigation.
