Police Burst Car-Stealing Syndicate In Nasarawa, Arrest Mechanic, Accomplice,  Recover  Stolen Vehicle

The operatives of Nasarawa Police Command said they have bursted a syndicate which specialises in stealing vehicles in the State.

The operatives said two suspected members of the gang are currently in their net, while a car stolen by the suspects has been recovered.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO ), Nasarawa Police Command disclosed in a statement made available to Daily Independent.

Nansel said that on  July  19, 2023 at about 4pm, “a complaint was lodged at ‘B’ Division, Lafia that on  June 1, 2023, a Toyota Corolla, 2015 model was given to a Mechanic in Lafia for repairs. That the culprit took away the vehicle to an unknown destination as all efforts to get across to him proved abortive.”

Sequel  to the complaint, the police image maker said that  detectives attached to ‘B’ Division, Lafia carried out an extensive investigation into the case.

Consequently, he added that the prime suspect,  49-year-old Sani Musa Labaran  of Shinge road, Lafia was trailed and arrested at Gembu, Taraba State, while his accomplice,  Ibeto Nwobodo,  38-year -old of Faringada, Jos was arrested in Jos.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to having conspired to sell the vehicle for #2.5 million.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police for the State, Maiyaki Baba has commended the officers for a job well done.

He also  ordered that the suspects should be charged to court for prosecution.
