The Sahara Deck of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), otherwise known as Pyrates Confraternity, in partnership with Zero Meridian Deck in the United Kingdom, on Tuesday extended its ‘Adopt a Child Project’ to LEA Primary School in Dakibiwu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The group offset school fees for no fewer than 50 underprivileged students, covering PTA levies and other costs for the second and third terms.
Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony, Aloy Atsenokhai, Programs Officer for Sahara Deck, NAS, emphasized the initiative’s goal of removing financial barriers to education.
“We adopted this school as part of our ‘Adopt a Child Project’ in collaboration with Zero Meridian Deck UK,” Atsenokhai said.

“What we do is ensure these children continue their education by paying PTA levies and others. You will be surprised that for something as small as N3,000, some students are unable to resume. This is our contribution to ensure education reaches everybody, especially the indigent ones.”
The gesture builds on NAS’s prior support for the school, which included scholarships for 30 students last term and the replacement of staff furniture such as chairs and tables.

Reacting, Stephen Oshi, Assistant Head Teacher for Academics at the school, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the institution and parents.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation to the National Association of Seadogs for their kind gesture,” Oshi said. “Apart from offering scholarships to less privileged children, they replaced furniture for staff members last term. Today, in addition to the 30 students, they have added 20 more, making it 50—a very big privilege for the beneficiaries.”
The ‘Adopt a Child Project’ underscores NAS’s commitment to educational access amid Nigeria’s economic challenges, where even modest fees like N3,000 can prevent school attendance.
