South East Traditional Rulers Council Chairman Doles Out N2 Million To Empower UNN’s Visually Impaired Students

His Royal Majesty Igwe Asadu,the Chairman, South East Traditional Rulers Council has empowered visually impaired students of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) with N2 million.

Asade, who is also the Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, extended his benevolent act when the students paid him homage in his palace in Nsukka, Enugu State.

Led by Prince Sebastian Chiagozie from the Political Science department came to pay a royal homage and congratulatory visit to the traditional ruler on his inauguration as Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers Council and to further highlight the plight of visually impaired students in the University.

His Majesty Igwe Ogadagidi appreciated them for the visit and encourage them to give their best in their academic pursuit nothing that there is ability in disability and hence, urged them to strive to succeed not minding the challenges they encounter. His Majesty further made a donation of #2 million naira to the students who visited him and encouraged them to remain resilient.

The Igwe donation of N2 million to support these visually impaired students who are resilient in striving to overcome challenges and pursue their educational aspirations despite facing obstacles sparked admiration and gratitude within the University of Nigeria Nsukka students community.

The donation will cover educational expenses, enable them to access essential support services tailored to their needs, receive quality education that will empower them to reach their full potential and pursue their academic goals with confidence.

The visually impaired students who received the generous support from the traditional ruler were overwhelmed with gratitude.

One student, Ejah Manifest from Mass Communication department said, “This donation means the world to us. It gives us hope and motivation to pursue our dreams despite our challenges.”

Also, Nwazu Precious from the social work department, added, “We feel seen and valued, knowing that His Royal Majesty is standing by us.”

Reacting to the development, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, the Technical Assistant on Communication, Office Of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement described the generosity and empathy of His Royal Majesty Igwe Asadu as life changer for the students.

Nwachukwu stated that the traditional ruler’s donation to support the visually impaired students exemplifies the power of kindness and generosity.

He noted that through his act of benevolence, he not only provided financial assistance but had instilled a sense of hope and belonging to the visually impaired students and their community.
