Two persons are feared dead at Mile 1 and 3 areas of Diobu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Saturday, as suspected Cultists said to belong to the Lamidian and Virus houses of Deygbam confraternity engaged in battle of supremacy.

Sources privy to the incidents disclosed to our correspondent that the first killing occurred on Saturday morning at Oduneze lane in Mile 3, when gunmen suspected to be members of a factional cult group ambushed and shot their rival dead.

It was learnt that the gang members of the slain suspected cultist, mobilized and went to Sangana and Railway axis of Mile 1 Diobu in the afternoon of same day and hacked their rival known as ‘Ishi’ to death.

Our correspondent gathered that Business owners and traders in the affected areas hurriedly closed their shops for fear of being caught in the crossfire.

The police in the state is yet to confirm the development, as the Public Relations Officer for the State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, when contacted, promised to revert, but had yet to do so when this report was filed.

It would be recalled that one other person was killed two months ago in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, when suspected cultists engaged in a similar supremacy battle.
