The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an eight-hour planned power interruption in Kubwa, Bwari, Army Resettlement, parts of Dutse Alhaji and adjoining areas of Abuja on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

TCN, in a notice signed by its management and made available to newsmen on Wednesday, said the interruption would be necessary to enable its maintenance crew carry out repairs at the 132/33kV Kubwa Transmission Substation.
According to the company, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to commence at 10:00am and end at 6:00pm.

TCN said its maintenance team would replace a faulty 33kV NIPP feeder circuit breaker and a punctured yellow-phase current transformer with new units.

It explained that the work would affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to take electricity supply from the substation for distribution to customers in the affected areas.

“As a consequence, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake electricity supply to customers in Kubwa, Bwari, Army Resettlement, parts of Dutse Alhaji and adjoining areas during the maintenance period,” TCN stated.

The planned outage is expected to affect electricity consumers across the listed communities for the duration of the maintenance exercise.

TCN apologised to electricity customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the exercise may cause, stressing that the intervention is aimed at replacing faulty equipment at the substation.

The company urged affected consumers to make necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance period.
