President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after taking a two-week working leave in the United Kingdom (UK).

Tinubu, who arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 7:20pm, was received by senior members of the administration.

The President had departed for the two-week working vacation on Wednesday, October 2 as part of his annual leave, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

But on October 11, Tinubu left the UK for Paris in France for an undisclosed engagement, according to his Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari.

The President was received on arrival, among others by the Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Ministers, including Wale Edun (Finance), Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (Budget and Economic Planning), Nuhu Ribadu (National Security Adviser), and Abdullahi Ganduhe (National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He is expected to resume duties at the presidency on Monday.

Recall that the presidential candidate of the Labour party in the last general election, Mr Peter Obi had criticised the President and his Vice, Kashim Shettima for leaving the country at the same time when the country was passing through a critical phase economically.

But the special adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Onanuga had reacted swiftly saying there was nothing unusual about such trips as similar situation played out during the immediate past administration under Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo.
