The Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has declared Nasir Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18, 2023 election.
The tribunal sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who contested on the platform of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) who was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to withdraw the certificate of return earlier issued to Governor Yusuf and ordered INEC to issue a fresh certificate to the APC candidate.
The three-man panel led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay commenced proceedings virtually a few minutes before 10:00 am transmitting at Miller Road venue of the tribunal.
