The Young Women in Nigerian Politics, a collective voice for women’s empowerment and social development, extends a heartfelt appeal to our transformational President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) to reconsider the redeployment of Ms. Delu Yabuku as the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
According to a statement signed by
Rejoice Salome Ishaku, the President and Convener, Young Women in Nigerian Politics,
Ms. Yabuku’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian activities and her proven capacity to drive impactful change make her an ideal candidate to lead NSIPA into a new era of social investment and welfare programmes.
In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis particularly in the Northern part of the country, which has been the epicenter of various challenges, we believe it is crucial to have a leader who not only understands the complexities of the issue but is deeply committed to addressing the needs of the people. In this regard, we wholeheartedly endorse Ms. Delu Yakubu for the role of National Coordinator of NSIPA.
Ms. Yakubu, being an indigene of the North East, brings a unique perspective and a profound understanding of the multifaceted issues faced by the people. Her personal connection to the communities positions her as an empathetic and effective leader, capable of implementing targeted and sustainable social investment programmes.
We strongly believe that under Ms. Yabuku’s leadership, NSIPA will witness significant strides in delivering social interventions that directly benefit the most vulnerable members of our society. Her dedication to creating avenues for women’s empowerment, youth development, and poverty alleviation aligns seamlessly with the goals of the Agency.
We are aware that Ms. Yakubu was the first candidate nominated by Mr. President to lead the Agency. She was screened by the National Assembly and even assumed the office but for some inexplicable reasons she was instead appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. We are thankful to Mr. President for considering her as his SSA and we firmly believe that if he elevates her to head the NSIPA, she will add immense value to his Administration.
Her track record showcases her ability to effectively manage and implement large-scale social investment programmes, which will make her a huge asset to the agency and Nigeria in general.
Ms. Yakubu has demonstrated a strategic vision for social investment in different capacities, emphasizing inclusivity and targeted interventions to uplift the most vulnerable populations.
As the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, she has been instrumental in organizing empowerment programmes specifically tailored for the physically challenged members of our community, the poor and the vulnerable in Adamawa, Taraba, Nasarawa and Sokoto States. Through her initiatives, she has not only provided essential skills and resources but has also fostered a sense of inclusion and empowerment among those who often face additional challenges in accessing opportunities.
Furthermore, Ms. Yakubu’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services is exemplified by her recent efforts in delivering free eye care services to those in need in Akwa Ibom. This initiative reflects her compassionate approach to addressing the health needs of the community, ensuring that essential services are accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints. She also distributed essential materials such as mattresses, food and first-aid medical equipment to different Almajiri schools in the North.
As a strong advocate for women’s rights and empowerment, Ms. Yabuku has equally championed initiatives in her personal capacity that uplift and support women in various facets of life with the knowledge that women are the most vulnerable in humanitarian crisis and poverty in Nigeria.
She possesses a unique leadership style that fosters partnerships with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies, which will ensure a holistic and effective approach to addressing social challenges in Nigeria.
In view of these considerations, we urge Mr. President to carefully consider Ms. Delu Yakubu for the role of National Coordinator of NSIPA. Her appointment would not only bring a fresh perspective to the agency but would also enhance its capacity to make a meaningful impact in Nigeria.
