A tragic incident unfolded in the Alagbado area of Lagos State when a 45-year-old man, identified as Kazeem, took his own life after consuming a hard drug known as Colorado.

The incident occurred on October 11 at around 11 a.m.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the details in a statement on Sunday.

Kazeem, reportedly under the influence of drugs, began exhibiting erratic behavior before ultimately jumping into the Odo Tente River, located at the boundary between Lagos and Ogun State.

Despite efforts to save him, Kazeem drowned in the river. Detectives from the Alagbado police division arrived at the scene to document the incident and took photographs for further investigation.

In accordance with local traditions, Kazeem’s father was contacted and directed that his son’s body be buried by the riverside.

The police have launched an investigation to uncover more details surrounding this tragic event and to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, particularly the increasing use of hard substances like Colorado.
