30 Bandits Feared Killed In Fresh Clashes With Soldiers In Mangu LGA In Plateau

Barely less than 24 hours after Governor Caleb Mutfwang relaxed the 24 hours curfew he imposed on troubled Mangu LGA his country home in Plateau state, armed gun clashed with Soldiers on peace mission in the locality in two villages have it that they was a clash between soldiers and gunmen in two villages on Saturday morning on Saturday.

Saturday Independent gathered from the restive LGA that not less than 30 gunmen were killed in the fire fight during which some soldiers were said to have sustained sustained injuries .

The incident occured at at Satguru and Tyop villages all in Mangu LGA of the state.

A security operative, who called for anonymity, told Saturday Independent that the gunmen came in their numbers and started attacking some communities along Gindri road of Mangu LGA and that . Immediately the soldiers were alerted, they responded with fire fight

“About 30 of the gunmen were killed while more than 50 of them were arrested with guns and ammunition. Four soldiers were equally injured.” he said

Another source in the area who also pleaded for anonymity confirmed the incident to Saturday Independent, saying people in the locality are living in fear.

When contacted the Media Officer of Operation Save Haven (OPSH) in charge of security in Plateau, Bauchi and Southern Kaduna State Captain Oya James could not be reached and the PPRO of the state Police Command DSP Alfred Alabo did not pick his call.
