She stated, “I want to appreciate the good work you are doing. I also want to say that I received your congratulatory letter, and we don’t take it for granted. We urge you to use your association to promote the image of the NUJ FCT Council. As a body under the NUJ umbrella, we encourage balanced, fair, and objective reporting, which aligns with the ethics of journalism and fosters accurate reportage.”

The NUJ chairman emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration, adding, “We are always here for you and look forward to working with ACOE to achieve shared goals in 2025 and beyond. Let us continue to see the council as an integral part of your association.”

In his response, the Chairman of ACOE, Mr. Martins Odiete, expressed deep appreciation to the NUJ leaders for their thoughtful visit and goodwill. He acknowledged the shared commitment to promoting the ideals of journalism under the NUJ umbrella and reassured the council of ACOE’s loyalty and dedication.

“As you rightly mentioned, all our members are card-carrying members of the NUJ. Rest assured, we are working tirelessly to uphold the interests of the NUJ. Our exco team will also pay a courtesy visit to your office to further discuss areas of mutual interest and collaboration,” Mr. Odiete remarked.

He concluded by wishing the council leadership success in its endeavours and reiterated ACOE’s readiness to strengthen ties with the NUJ FCT Council to advance the practice of ethical journalism in Nigeria.

The interaction between the two bodies signifies a renewed commitment to collaboration, mutual support, and adherence to the highest standards of journalism.
