The race for the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State is already gathering massive rate of attention of the people with one of the governorship aspirants Mr Val Ozigbo apparently taking the centre stage just as a popular Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as Osisioma Foundation begin to search for a credible governorship candidate to queue behind ahead of the election.

TimesReporters gathered that Ozigbo who is aspiring to oust the incumbent governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo under the platform of Labour Party is gathering momentum among loyalists and faithful of Labour Party in particular and the relevant stakeholders including the Church leaders, businessmen, traders, the professional community, notable NGOs, women and youth in general.

The apparent popularity and acceptability of Ozigbo was conspicuously in play as a large crowd of supporters including leaders of Labour Party, church leaders, businessmen, traders, women groups and some youth bodies turned up when he was hosted in a meeting by Osisioma Foundation at Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area of the State at the weekend.

Notable presence at the meeting were members of the State House of Assembly under the platform of Labour Party led by Hon Jude Umennajiego, two ex State Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the person of Chief Benji Udozor and Chief Ejike Oguebego, Members of Charismatic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) ,members of Concerned Stakeholders of Labour Party in Oyi Local Government Area, members of Women wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) and Omambala Youth among others.

In his opening remarks the Founder of Osisioma Foundation Dr Chike Obidigbo told the gathering that the Foundation which is about finding ways to enhance good leadership and welfare of the inhabitants of the State is after a credible candidate who will ameliorate the suffering of the people noting that the incumbent governor, Professor Soludo is apparently not living up to his promise to turn Anambra to Dubai and Taiwan level of development.

Dr Obidigbo a renowned captain of industry and an elders statesman told the audience that Osisioma Foundation is open to meet with other governorship aspirants after which the Foundation will chose a candidate considered to be credible and capable to reverse the tide of poor leadership and underdevelopment in Anambra State adding that the Foundation is not after the money bags but a visionary candidate that can muster what it takes to move Anambra forward.

In his words, Ozigbo who was the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2021 governorship election in Anambra told the audience that he is offering himself for service once more in 2025 adding that he is aspiring to be governor of the Light of the Nation State this time under the platform of Labour Party.

He declared that it is time for Anambra people to rise up against bad leaders who he said have continued to hinder the light of the State to shine adding he is capable to librate the Light of the Nation State from shackles of bad leadership if given the mandate to be governor in 2025.

According to him, Anambra State is a great state richly blessed in all ramifications but lack of good leadership has turned those great things Anambra is known for to become a mockery to them.
