The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has commended Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, for sustaining support for sports development in the state.
Kankia said the governor’s commitment to sporting activities could provide young people with opportunities to develop their talents while promoting discipline, unity and constructive engagement.
The APC chieftain made the remarks while extending goodwill to players and stakeholders participating in the 2026 polo season in Katsina State.

He wished the participants a successful season and urged the players to uphold the principles of sportsmanship and fair play throughout the competitions.
According to him, sports should not be viewed solely as a platform for competition, but also as an avenue for youth development and social cohesion.
He said sustained investment in sports could help create an environment where young people are encouraged to discover and develop their abilities.
Kankia also commended the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, for his efforts to preserve the historical and cultural values of the Katsina Emirate.
He described the preservation of the emirate’s traditions and heritage as an important responsibility that would help connect present generations with their history.
The APC National Legal Adviser said sports and cultural heritage could complement each other in strengthening the identity of Katsina State.
He noted that sporting events such as polo could also provide opportunities for community engagement while drawing attention to the state’s cultural heritage.
Kankia particularly expressed his best wishes to the polo players, calling on them to compete with mutual respect and in the spirit of fair play.
He wished all participants safe matches and a successful 2026 polo season.
The APC chieftain said continued support for sports development, alongside efforts to preserve historical and cultural values, would contribute to the visibility and development of Katsina State.
He maintained that encouraging sporting activities while safeguarding the state’s heritage would help ensure that both its sporting potential and cultural identity remain relevant to younger generations.
