The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE), during its emergency meeting, on Thursday in Abuja welcomed eight independent online editors into its fold.

These are candidates who indicated interest and purchased nomination forms when the association opened its window to accommodate more members who are qualified to join, based on the constitution of the ACOE.

The chairman Screening Committee of ACOE, Chux Ugwuatu who announced that the candidates are qualified for be received as full members, said they have equally fulfilled all constitutional requirements of the association.

Those received are Ameh Gabriel (Media 360 Impact), Odimmegwa Johnpeter (New Africa Horizon), Segun Ojumu (African Eye), Sunday Etuka (The Fact News), Stella Idueme Omona (Star News Africa), Nwachukwu John Owen (Skypost ng), Joel Oladele (National Periscope) and Nelson Omonu (Summit Post).

Some members took time to attest to the professionality and reputations of the candidates while calling on members to receive them, because they have the capacity to improve ACOE going by their honesty, connections and years in the journalism profession.

They equally expressed appreciation to the Screening Committee for job well-done in ensuring that only people with impeccable character are allowed to join the association in order to maintain the good standard ACOE stands for.

Welcoming the new members, the president of ACOE, Comrade Sola Akingboye said they should be mindful of what to do for the association and not just what the association would do for them.

He said he has worked with some of them for many years and can attest that they are people of integrity.

ACOE is an umbrella body for all independent online editors operating in Nigeria with his headquarters in Abuja.
The group also observed a one-minute silence in honour of the daughter of their member, Mr. Alabidun Abdulraman, who lost her life, last week.
