The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a sustainable aviation ecosystem through strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force.

He made this known while addressing participants at the 4th African Air Forces Forum held in Lagos on Friday, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood on Sunday.

Speaking at the high-level continental gathering, the Minister emphasised that the deepening partnership between the Ministry and the Nigerian Air Force is not only strengthening national airspace security but also laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth.

“The collaboration between our Ministry and the Nigerian Air Force is a powerful synergy. We are not just protecting our skies – through this partnership, we are building an aviation ecosystem that will serve Nigeria for decades to come.”

Highlighting critical areas of cooperation such as airspace security, aviation infrastructure development, and workforce training, the Minister underscored that the joint efforts go beyond the immediate objective of combating terrorism.

“When we guarantee the safety of our skies, we don’t just protect our nation – we send a powerful message to the world,” Keyamo declared. “A secure airspace attracts tourists, boosts our hospitality industry, and ultimately increases aviation sector revenues that strengthen our GDP.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing the aviation industry through strategic alliances that harmonise national security priorities with economic development objectives.

The Minister also commended the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism, resilience, and continued support in promoting national aviation goals. He extended appreciation to international partners and stakeholders present at the forum, urging sustained cooperation to position Nigeria as “a beacon of aviation excellence in Africa.”

The 4th African Air Forces Forum brought together top military and civilian aviation leaders across the continent to deliberate on shared challenges and opportunities in enhancing air power and aviation development in Africa.
