The Abuja chapter of Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA) is set to hold its biennial celebration on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Velodrome, Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja. This year’s theme, “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso,” translates to: “Don’t hesitate to rescue your sibling/relative in time of need/difficulty,” serving as a poignant reminder of the importance of unity and support among community members.

Addressing journalists on Saturday in his office, Chief Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu) stated that ASTPA is an umbrella body of all Anambra community associations in Abuja, aims to foster unity, progress, and understanding among Anambra people (Ndi Anambra); encourage peaceful coexistence with other state associations in Abuja; project cultural heritage, through showcasing the rich culture of Anambra State and; identify problems facing Anambra State and propose solutions.

The ASTPA’s biennual cultural celebration serves several purposes, by rekindling and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Anambra, including music, dance, masquerades, and traditional attire. The Association, he however went on, uses the occasion to foster unity, love, and progress among community members, as well as encourage them to work collectively towards the development of Anambra State.

He also informed that they use the event to foster community empowerment, through provision of a platform for skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment, aligning with the theme’s message of rescuing one another in times of need and; using the opportunity to facilitate interactions networking among community members, stakeholders, and government officials, as well as promote collaboration and development.

“As usual, this year’s celebration is expected to feature cultural performances and competitions among town unions; raffle draws with exciting prizes, including cash empowerment and household items. There will be motivational speeches and messages from community leaders and recognition for outstanding individuals and community contributions,” explained clearly.

In a heartfelt appeal, Dr Sunday Uchendu, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2025 edition, expressed gratitude to members for their cooperation thus far, while praying for the event’s overall success. He also urged members to sustain their support, noting that their efforts would be divinely rewarded.

The ASTPA celebration is a testament to the community’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage, promoting unity, and driving progress.

By coming together to celebrate and support one another, Ndi Anambra in Abuja can harness their collective potential to build a brighter future for themselves and future generations.
