The burial arrangements of Opike II, the traditional ruler of Opi Autonomous Community, Amasiri, Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, HRH Ezeogo, Omezue Paul Athanasius Uchendu Ndukwe, who passed – on on March 27, 2024 at the age of 70 has been announced.
According to a press statement signed on behalf of the royal family and made available to media houses by Dr John Ndukwe recently, the funeral arrangements will begin with a wake on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Ogo Ihie, Ezi- Umeke from, 5:00 p.m and a funeral service on Thursday, February 27, 2025, by 10:00 a.m. However, a thanksgiving service will be held on 2nd March 2025, at the Catholic Church, all in Amasiri.
The late traditional ruler was a retired military personnel, a graduate of the Yaba College of Technology, a trained professional business manager and petroleum surveyor. He however joined the corporate world upon his voluntary retirement from the Nigerian Army.
With a successful career in the oil sector in Lagos and Warri and, retiring in 2014 at 60, his love for serving his people gave birth to his leaving Warri for his home town, Amasiri after retirement.
The Opike II, on the 20th of November, 2021 in a credible election, was presented to the Executive Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, as well as the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as the Eze-elect.
With full recognition, he performed his duties in that capacity very well, until his demise in March, 27th, 2024. HRH Ezeogo Omezue Paul Uchendu Ndukwe was said to have survived by an aged mother, his wife, Rev Patricia Ndukwe, three children; Ndukwe Junior, Onyinyechi, and Ejike, siblings, cousins, extended family, friends, and associates, all in the ancient city of Amasiri.
