Perhaps the exit of Sir Chinyeaka Oha as Chairman of the Governing Council of Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) is no longer news, what is news however is that his resignation sparked panic in political quarters owing to impression that he resigned from his role at ESUT to contest election for Governor in 2027. Sources say Ohaa has been facing strong pressure from relevant stakeholders both in private and public sectors to join the 2027 race because according to them, he is the one that posses what it takes to do more better job than the present administration that has failed to meet the yearning of the people.

According to the sources, his resignation from ESUT role is not unconnected with the pressure to run the 2027 race. And to the people in government quarters and their praise singers like one Emeka Akajiugo, his resignation came like thunder storm that shattered the dancing stage with everybody at the stage running helter-skelter to save their head.

Analysts say the panic engulfing the government camp over Ohaa as demonstrated by Emeka Akajiugo is not a surprise development considering the intimidating nature of Ohaa’s profile with track record of excellent service rendered at various level spanning over thirty years in active service. Akajiugo in his panicking mood presented a write up that clearly indicated that all is not well with the following the exit of Ohaa from ESUT governing council.

Speaking in his own opinion, a current affairs analyst Dr Ejikeme Nwangwu observed that the news that Ohaa stepped aside from his role at ESUT because he is eyeing the Lion Building ahead of 2027 governorship election is making some people like Emeka Akajiugo uncomfortable because mere looking at his profile, tells you that he would pose for a strong race against the Governor Peter Mbah for Lion Building in 2027.

According to Nwangwu a Medical Doctor, the link of Ohaa’s name with 2027 governorship race has heightened the political tempo in Enugu State because many are of the view that the present administration has failed to meet the yearning of the people and someone like Ohaa who has what it takes to redeem the State is on board to face Mbah at the polls. “That’s why they are panicking. That’s why they feel threatened. But that’s normal in politics because you cannot keep quiet when there is danger ahead of you” he added

Another analyst Joachin Chukwude laughed off the expression of Akajiugo describing it as cry of a man facing drowning inside the river. Chukwude in his observation noted that it is unfortunate for praise singers like Emeka Akajiugo not to have seen the hand writing on the wall that the good people of Enugu State have lost interest in the present administration for poor performance. “Let it be known to Akajiugo and his likes that Ndi Enugu are battle ready to take back their State from failed administration and somebody like Ohaa will make their choice”

To Chukwude, the message is clear: Ndi Enugu want to take back their State to escape poor performance, escape poverty and unemployment, escape economic hardship, escape multiple taxation and extortion as well as escape demolition of poor people’s means of livelihood without providing alternative means for sustenance and someone like Ohaa whose track record speaks volume of a man with versatile experience in human and economic management will certainly make their choice.

Notably, Ohaa’s versatile experience is not in doubt considering his track record in service at various levels both in private and public sector. According to records Ohaa was first appointed as a Bursar (1986-1989) in Enugu State Education Commission. Again, he later became Accountant at Vanguard Industries Limited (1992-1993). In 1996-1993 Chinyeaka also became sub treasurer at Treasury Headquarters office of Accountant General Enugu State, and also, Sub Treasurer, (Lands) office of Accountant General Enugu State in 1996-1999.

Furthermore, by (1999-2006) Sir Ohaa was also elevated to the position of Accountant General Of Enugu State and later nominated as Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture in (2006-2007) under the administration of His Excellency, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani the former Governor of Enugu State.

Upon completion of his tenure as Honorable Commissioner, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa immediately shifted his selfless service to humanity from state level to the Federal, where he later served as deputy director in various ministerial offices including Ministry of Defense, where he served in the office of Audit and Account department.

He was later moved to the Ministry of Water Resources in (2013) where he continued his excellent services till 2016, when the administration of His Excellency, President Mohammed Buhari (GCFR) appointed him as Federal Capital Territory Permanent Secretary, under the Ministry of Youths and Sports in the Federal Civil Service Commission. He is worthy son of Obuoffia in Nkanu West Local Government Area.
