Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication, Senator Kenneth Eze has described as a ruse the rumored impeachment plot against the President of the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Senator Eze who represents Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, cleared the air in a chat with Journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital, on Sunday.

He maintained that the 10th Senate was the most peaceful and united in the history of Nigerian Senate.

He further disclosed the Senate leadership under Senator Akpabio was carrying every member of the Senate along, irrespective of political affiliation or role played during the election that produced the leadership.

According to him, there is no reason to think about impeachment when the 10th Senate is just starting.

“The 10th Senate is the most peaceful and united since inception. I thank the leadership for being magnanimous in victory. The Senate leadership is carrying everybody along. To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing like that. There is no reason for that. I’m just hearing it for the first time.

“The rumor is the handiwork of enemies of progress who sit in their comfort zones to imagine and think evil against other people and start circulating same.

“There is no reason for anybody to think about impeachment. In the distribution of appointments, the Senate President ensured it was balanced, such that every Senator including those who opposed his election got grade A committee membership,” he averred.

Speaking on the performance of the incumbent Governor of Ebonyi State, Senator Eze said he was impressed by the steps so far taken by the Governor in addressing the need of the people.

“I have followed the Governor closely and I’m quite impressed by his performance. Ebonyians got it right by electing him the Governor. With what is happening, you can truly believe that he’s prepared for governance and his manifesto is truly touching on the lives of the people at their points of need. It’s not about making noise in the Media and laundering image. It’s about addressing the need of the people. And I’m not surprised because he is one of the people, he came from them.

“He’s a typical Ebonyi man. He knows our problems and you can see the difference. That’s why if you’re looking for a leader, you pick from the true people. Because he will know the need of the people and knows where it’s pinching them.

“He started with the need of workers which was giving some of us concern. He increased workers salaries, and approved payment of backlog of pensions and gratuities. He also addressed the mirage of problems facing our state university. The Governor has also rolled out different kind of empowerment packages. He is a talk and do Governor. You can see that Ebonyians are happy and I commend his leadership ingenuity,” he stated.

Eze also congratulated the Governor on his victory at the Tribunal, adding that he was not expecting the Tribunal to do otherwise, because, according to him,he was overwhelmingly voted by the people.

According to him, those challenging the Governor’s victory in the Court are only embarking on a white goose chase.
