Jigawa Man Hangs Self Over Hardship, Police Confirm

Middle-aged man has hanged himself in Jigawa over ‘his difficult situation,’ as confirmed by the police command in the state.

The deceased, said to be aged 35, was discovered dangling from a tree by a rope, presumably from suicide.

The man identified as Samaila Ilu, a 35-year-old Nigerian man, allegedly hanged himself over his difficult situation in Jigawa State.

Jigawa Police Command’s spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who confirmed the incident, said the man’s lifeless body was found, last Thursday, hanging on a tree with a rope, presuming he had committed suicide.

“On 17/08/2023 at about 1100hrs, police received a report that a 35-year-old man Samaila Ilu of Dungun Tantama village, Hausa local government, left his house on 16/08/2023 to an unknown destination,” the report read.

Shiisu said a team of policemen removed the corpse and conveyed it to the hospital for autopsy.

He said it has since been released to his relatives for burial.
