Suspected kidnappers have killed two bus passengers and kidnapped five others while travelling along Ifon-Owo highway in Ondo State.

Those shot dead, it was learnt, are the driver of the vehicle and a female passenger.

The five other passengers who were taken away by the gunmen included a Corps member.

But two of the victims reportedly managed to escape, with varying degrees of wounds.

One of the locals said the fully loaded commercial vehicle was coming from Anambra State heading for Owo and Akure in Ondo State when the gunmen struck Friday evening.

Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, SP Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanyan, confirmed the incident.

She added that a team of policemen had been deployed in the area, and were combing the nearby forest to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
