High Chief Vitus Ofodum, National President of the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) and Ikenga Mbosi Community in Anambra State, extended warm congratulations to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike on his 58th birthday. Ofodum, the CEO of Vitec Electrical Engineering Company Limited stated that Wike has “outperformed few of his contemporaries in office, especially in the area of infrastructure,” underscoring the minister’s standout performance since assuming the FCT portfolio in August 2023.

Speaking to journalists in his Abuja office, Ofodum emphasized Wike’s focus on continuing and completing abandoned projects while initiating new ones, particularly in road networks, water supply, and security infrastructure. “Since becoming FCT Minister in August 2023, Nyesom Wike has focused heavily on continuing and completing abandoned projects while also initiating new ones, particularly in road networks, water supply, and security infrastructure,” he said.

He highlighted specific infrastructure projects initiated or advanced under Wike’s tenure, including Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) linking Arterial N16 and N20 in Katampe District 1, Arterial Road N1 from Wuye District to Ring Road II, and Northern Parkway from Ring Road II to Ring Road III. These projects aim to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the FCT.

Additional road initiatives cited include development of ILS 02, ILS 03, ILS 11, and MAR 24 streets; reworking of the road from Karu interchange to Customs Clinic junction; and numerous roads in satellite towns such as Gaba-Tukulo road in Bwari, roads in Ushafa, War College, Army Checkpoint areas, and a 15 km road from A2 Junction to Pai in Kwali Area Council. “Numerous roads in satellite towns have been initiated to boost rural economies,” Ofodum noted.

The LECAN president also pointed to the procurement and installation of new solar‑powered streetlights across major areas and expressways of the city, including Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse, Central Business District, and the Airport Expressway, aimed at improving security and aesthetics. Other key projects include expansion of water supply to satellite towns in Bwari and Karu, construction in Jabi District, and design/construction of residences for judicial officers to promote judicial independence and security.

Ofodum further mentioned the commencement of 12 new Divisional Police Stations and staff quarters, with two in each of the six area councils of the FCT, as part of Wike’s security infrastructure push. “These projects collectively demonstrate Minister Wike’s commitment to transforming the FCT,” he asserted.

In his birthday message, Ofodum urged Wike to “continue to go about his lawful duties with the fear of God and total adherence to the law,” reinforcing the call for sustained integrity in public service. The LECAN leader’s praise aligns with broader national recognition of Wike’s impactful governance, including tributes from political leaders such as President Bola Tinubu.

As Wike celebrates his 58th birthday, LECAN’s salute highlights his role as a pivotal figure in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s capital, positioning him as a leader who has “outperformed his competitors” in delivering critical infrastructure to Abuja residents.
